As VoiceCon San Francisco kicks off on November 2 at the Moscone Convention Center, ShoreTel is thrilled that one of its many satisfied customers – Bill Schlough, senior vice president and CIO for the San Francisco Giants will have an opportunity to share his ShoreTel experience with attendees.
Bill joins a panel led by No Jitter’s Eric Krapf and the Yankee Group’s Zeus Kerravala in a spirited user breakout session on Tuesday, November 3, at 1:00 p.m. PST in room 134.
We announced the San Francisco Giants as a ShoreTel customer earlier this year, and organizations across the board were intrigued by its brilliantly simple messages of a low TCO and the flexibility and scalability of an easy to use communications system that Schlough also applauds in his video testimonial.
In the Giants deployment, a total of 450 ShoreTel IP Telephones have been installed throughout AT&T Ballpark and other off-site facilities, including the Giants Arizona stadium, to streamline communications and reduce costs.
As Schlough states:“It’s good for a baseball team to be number one in the standings or in terms of hitting percentage or homeruns, but this time we were number one in telecom costs. It was the simplicity and reliable architecture of ShoreTel solutions that reduced complexity dramatically in our environment and lived up to its theme: Brilliantly Simple!”
If you’re attending the conference, we’d love to tell you more about the many benefits of a ShoreTel solution. You’ll find us in the IBM booth, #609, showcasing our latest products and integration capabilities. We’ll also be cheering for Bill on the user panel. Go Giants!

No Flies on Terminix

When the South Carolina regional offices of Terminix Service, an independent business licensed by renowned pest controllers Terminix International, needed a new IP phone solution, the company’s IT group quickly exterminated the major vendors from their evaluation list, and chose ShoreTel.
In the highly competitive pest control industry, responding to anxious customers quickly and professionally is critical for success. The company needed the advanced, efficient features available in a modern IP-based phone system, but with a small staff to manage all aspects of IT across all 52 branches of the company, they didn’t need additional complexity or specialized programming requirements.
At the same time, Terminix Services had to upgrade its networks to meet the growing data and traffic demands, and turned to ShoreTel partner, Brocade, for a robust Layer 3 switching solution that supports highly reliable communications.
This powerful combination of network infrastructure and advanced unified communications is transforming the way that companies like Terminix Services are doing business. For more information, read the Brocade case study or watch our brief video of ShoreTel CEO John W. Combs talking about the cost, efficiency and reliability advantages of ShoreTel IP business communication solutions.
With our obsessive focus on world-class customer satisfaction, low total cost of ownership and exceptional management ease, it’s easy to see how IT staff at Terminix Services was bitten by the ShoreTel bug! Request a ShoreTel demo and see how you can zap your communication bugs, too.
ShoreTel UC Deployments – Boldly Going Where No IP Telephony System Has Gone Before

Whether it’s an expedition to mine vital supplies from the center of the Earth or a journey to harvest the ocean’s resources at the ends of the Earth, organizations working in harsh and extreme environments need reliable, cost-effective communications.
Increasingly, these organizations are discovering that ShoreTel’s distributed architecture with plug-and-play functionality and centralized management capabilities helps maintain business continuity with high quality communications in rugged and often potentially treacherous situations.
For instance, the Glacier Fish Company has made a major breakthrough in effective and affordable ship-to-shore communications with ShoreTel.
ShoreTel also is helping the Grande Cache Coal Corporation avoid losses in excess of $1 million per day due to communication downtime between their mines, satellite offices, and Calgary headquarters.
In addition, what used to be $700 per call out due to the remote nature of the site, is now pennies to the dollar with ShoreTel’s reliable and stable systems – remote management has never been easier and more cost effective.
In short, Thayer Ramahi, senior infrastructure engineer for Grande Cache Coal Corporation, states: “By eliminating mining stoppages and maintenance fees, ShoreTel is directly improving our bottom line.”
Our CEO John Combs concisely attributes our success in these harsh environments: “Companies are discovering that the technologies that deliver these capabilities, including a fully distributed architecture and dynamic voice traffic compression for optimizing quality over low bandwidth, make ShoreTel the ideal solution for environments that traditional telephony has never served well.”
