Today, November 11, is a momentous day for ShoreTel. Our CEO, John W. Combs, along with other members of the executive team will ring the ceremonial NASDAQ stock market closing bell in New York City at 1pm PST/4pm EST.
For ShoreTel, this historic bell ringing marks a year that has been filled with a long line of other momentous occasions.
Over the past year, we have been identified as the market leader in desktop applications among SMBs worldwide by Synergy Research. We also were the first UC vendor to announce interoperability with Skype for SIP, and continue to add major technology partners to our integration offerings.
Last Spring, we were awarded Best in VoiceCon for the third year in a row, and just recently we were named the “Best Overall IP Provider” by Nemertes Research for the sixth consecutive year.
Add to these achievements our growing list of partners throughout the world, and many, many satisfied customers across all market segments and of all sizes and it’s easy to spot the symbolism in this bell ringing ceremony.
ShoreTel is ringing in a new era with brilliantly simple business communication solutions that are designed to untangle IT complexity, reduce costs and boost productivity in the IP age.
Our ceremonial NASDAQ participation also confirms that ShoreTel’s 2009 performance has been outstanding. We encourage you to tune in and watch footage of the broadcast.

Customer Satisfaction is the Name of the Game

For ShoreTel, this exciting week kicked off with an awards dinner held by independent research group Nemertes Research, where ShoreTel received the Best IP Telephony Provider award for the sixth year in a row, and culminated at the Moscone Center for VoiceCon San Francisco.
On Monday night, I sat in a banquet room alongside competitors and colleagues and listened to Nemertes analysts present the results of studies that analyzed the views and experiences of actual UC customers.
When you work in an environment that champions a particular value, having that value verified and confirmed by a third party is truly rewarding. ShoreTel has always prided itself on delivering excellent customer service, and receiving the Nemertes award like the Nemertes one validates ShoreTel’s continued focus on solving our customers’ real-world business challenges.
Learn more about ShoreTel’s Nemertes PilotHouse award win with interviews from Irwin Lazar, Vice President, Communications Research, Nemertes Research; Kevin Gavin, VP of Marketing, ShoreTel; and Walt Weisner, VP of Global Services, ShoreTel.
One of ShoreTel’s satisfied customers – Bill Schlough, CIO for the San Francisco Giants, participated in a user forum at VoiceCon San Francisco along with Jamie Libow of Travelers, Walter Curd of Maxim Integrated Products, Randy Paine of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce and Arthur Brant of Abilene Christian University.
These gentlemen discussed their experiences migrating to new communication infrastructures and what went into their decision-making processes. It was refreshing to hear them talk about the varying needs of their organizations and what features resonated within each.
This is even more reason why ShoreTel’s “brilliantly simple” approach to UC is such a key differentiator from our competitors. We make it brilliantly simple for our customers to get exactly what they need without having to spend money on unnecessary features.
Check out our VoiceCon photos, and if you missed the opportunity to learn how ShoreTel can help you untangle complexity, request a demonstration and we'd be happy to show you more.

Schools across the country are rapidly becoming unified communication fans thanks to ShoreTel’s brilliantly simple IP-based communication systems.
By deploying ShoreTel, educational institutions such as the Perkiomen Valley School District in Pennsylvania and Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, are driving down telecommunication costs while increasing the depth and breadth of faculty collaboration.
ShoreTel has served the education industry for some time, and we are currently exhibiting in booth #1045 at the EDUCAUSE 2009 conference in Denver, Colorado.
Feel free to stop by if you’re attending the show, and we’d be delighted to provide you with more information on how ShoreTel can help your educational institution reduce costs and improve campus communications.
As 2009 draws to a close, IT administrators look to EDUCAUSE to help shape their technology direction for the coming year, especially administrations with budgets necessitating reduced infrastructure and costs. ShoreTel solutions present a clear value proposition that institutions like Sinclair Community College can easily recognize.
Scott McCollum, Director of IT Services for Sinclair Community College said, “The distributed architecture and features of the ShoreTel UC system make it ideal for an educational institution. The built-in call center easily satisfies the call volumes we experience, so we did not need a separate solution. The distributed architecture has also meant we can phase in the deployment across our new sites, while leveraging the investment in our current hardware. The ability to develop a cost-effective deployment strategy was vital to our decision.”

ShoreTel Delivers Six of the Best!

While we weren’t surprised to learn that ShoreTel has been named the Best IP Telephony Provider for six years in a row, according to the independent Nemertes PilotHouse 2009 Awards, we were absolutely delighted to see just how far ahead ShoreTel is in leading the industry in customer satisfaction.
ShoreTel was the undisputed leader and ahead of every competitor surveyed including companies like Cisco and Avaya, sometimes by huge margins, in every category including Value, Technology, Customer Service, Ease of Implementation and Troubleshooting, and Management Tools. Clearly this reflects ShoreTel’s continued focus on solving our customers’ real-world business challenges.
At ShoreTel, customer satisfaction is a core business value on a par with driving product excellence and business value. Download a copy of the report and see for yourself the kinds of kudos our customers shared in the Nemertes independent survey, including:
“The common thread among participants that favor ShoreTel is its value. Low prices, a broad set of features, scalability, strong customer service, and relatively less complicated deployment and troubleshooting requirements all contribute to ShoreTel’s win.”
ShoreTel customers noted “the ability to easily scale by simply adding new switches as they add new sites or expand existing sites. ‘We found ShoreTel provided a better solution than its competitors, especially in the contact center,’ says the director of telecom at a professional-services firm that has deployed about 200 end-points.”
“‘We picked ShoreTel because of its enthusiastic VARs, low cost, wide support for SIP-trunking service providers, UC features, and the scalability to grow as we grow,’ says the director of telecom for a nationwide engineering firm.”
As always, a huge shout out to the entire ShoreTel extended team including our resellers who play a key role in delivering outstanding customer satisfaction! Congratulations on delivering six of the very best!
